11: Then David gave Solomon the plans for the Temple and its surroundings, including the treasuries, the upstairs rooms, the inner rooms, and the inner sanctuary where the Ark's cover--the place of atonement--would be kept.

- They serve in a place of worship that is only a copy, a shadow of the real one in heaven. For when Moses was getting ready to build the Tabernacle, God gave him this warning: "Be sure that you make everything according to the design I have shown you here on the mountain."
Hebrews 9:2
- There were two rooms in this tent. In the first room were a lampstand, a table, and loaves of holy bread on the table. This was called the Holy Place.
- Then there was a curtain, and behind the curtain was the second room called the Most Holy Place.
- In that room were a gold incense altar and a wooden chest called the Ark of the Covenant, which was covered with gold on all sides. Inside the Ark were a gold jar containing some manna, Aaron's staff that sprouted leaves, and the stone tablets of the covenant with the Ten Commandments written on them.
- The glorious cherubim were above the Ark. Their wings were stretched out over the Ark's cover, the place of atonement. But we cannot explain all of these things now.
- When these things were all in place, the priests went in and out of the first room regularly as they performed their religious duties.
1 Kings 6:16
- He partitioned off an inner sanctuary--the Most Holy Place--at the far end of the Temple. It was 30 feet deep and was paneled with cedar from floor to ceiling.
- The main room of the Temple, outside the Most Holy Place, was 60 feet long.
- Cedar paneling completely covered the stone walls throughout the Temple, and the paneling was decorated with carvings of gourds and open flowers.
- Solomon prepared the inner sanctuary in the rear of the Temple, where the Ark of the LORD's covenant would be placed.
- This inner sanctuary was 30 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 30 feet high. Solomon overlaid its walls and ceiling with pure gold. He also overlaid the altar made of cedar.
Nehemiah 10:38
- A priest--a descendant of Aaron--will be with the Levites as they receive these tithes. And a tenth of all that is collected as tithes will be delivered by the Levites to the Temple of our God and placed in the storerooms.
- The people and the Levites must bring these offerings of grain, new wine, and olive oil to the Temple and place them in the sacred containers near the ministering priests, the gatekeepers, and the singers. "So we promise together not to neglect the Temple of our God."
Ezekiel 40:48
- Then he brought me to the foyer of the Temple. He measured its supporting columns and found them to be 8 3/4 feet square. The entrance was 24 1/2 feet wide with walls 5 1/4 feet thick.
- The depth of the foyer was 35 feet and the width was 19 1/4 feet. There were ten steps leading up to it, with a column on each side.
Ezekiel 40:8
- He also measured the foyer of the gateway
- and found it to be 14 feet deep, with supporting columns 3 1/2 feet thick. This foyer was at the inner end of the gateway structure, facing toward the Temple.

- Other Levites, led by Ahijah, were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the storerooms.
- From the family of Libni in the clan of Gershon, Jehiel was the leader.
- The sons of Jehiel, Zetham and his brother Joel, were in charge of the treasuries of the house of the LORD.

- From the clan of Amram, Shebuel was a descendant of Gershom son of Moses. He was the chief officer of the treasuries.
Ezekiel 43:10
- "Son of man, describe to the people of Israel the Temple I have shown you. Tell them its appearance and its plan so they will be ashamed of all their sins.
- And if they are ashamed of what they have done, describe to them all the specifications of its construction--including its entrances and doors--and everything else about it. Write down all these specifications and directions as they watch so they will be sure to remember them.
Ezekiel 41:6
- These rooms were built in three levels, one above the other, with thirty rooms on each level. The supports for these rooms rested on ledges in the Temple wall, but the supports did not extend into the wall.
- Each level was wider than the one below it, corresponding to the narrowing of the Temple wall as it rose higher. A stairway led up from the bottom level through the middle level to the top level.
- I noticed that the Temple was built on a terrace, which provided a foundation for the side rooms. This terrace was 10 1/2 feet high.
- The outer wall of the Temple's side rooms was 8 3/4 feet thick. This left an open area between these side rooms
- and the row of rooms along the outer wall of the inner courtyard. This open area measured 35 feet in width, and it went all the way around the Temple.
1 Kings 6:10
- As already stated, there was a complex of rooms on three sides of the building, attached to the Temple walls by cedar timbers. Each story of the complex was 7 1/2 feet high.
2 Chronicles 5:7
- Then the priests carried the Ark of the LORD's covenant into the inner sanctuary of the Temple--the Most Holy Place--and placed it beneath the wings of the cherubim.
1 Kings 6:5
- A complex of rooms was built against the outer walls of the Temple, all the way around the sides and rear of the building.
- The complex was three stories high, the bottom floor being 7 1/2 feet wide, the second floor 9 feet wide, and the top floor 10 1/2 feet wide. The rooms were connected to the walls of the Temple by beams resting on ledges built out from the wall. So the beams were not inserted into the walls themselves.

- The foundation for the Temple of God was ninety feet long and thirty feet wide.
- The foyer at the front of the Temple was thirty feet wide, running across the entire width of the Temple. The inner walls of the foyer and the ceiling were overlaid with pure gold. The roof of the foyer was thirty feet high.
- The main room of the Temple was paneled with cypress wood, overlaid with pure gold, and decorated with carvings of palm trees and chains.
- The walls of the Temple were decorated with beautiful jewels and with pure gold from the land of Parvaim.
- All the walls, beams, doors, and thresholds throughout the Temple were overlaid with gold, and figures of cherubim were carved on the walls.

- The four chief gatekeepers, all Levites, were in an office of great trust, for they were responsible for the rooms and treasuries at the house of God.
- They would spend the night around the house of God, since it was their duty to guard it. It was also their job to open the gates every morning.
- Some of the gatekeepers were assigned to care for the various utensils used in worship. They checked them in and out to avoid any loss.
- Others were responsible for the furnishings, the items in the sanctuary, and the supplies such as choice flour, wine, olive oil, incense, and spices.

- The inner courtyard to the east of the Temple was also 175 feet wide.
- The building to the west, including its two walls, was also 175 feet wide. The Holy Place, the Most Holy Place, and the foyer of the Temple were all paneled with wood,
- as were the frames of the recessed windows. The inner walls of the Temple were paneled with wood above and below the windows.
- The space above the door leading into the Most Holy Place was also paneled.
Jeremiah 35:2
- "Go to the settlement where the families of the Recabites live, and invite them to the LORD's Temple. Take them into one of the inner rooms, and offer them some wine."
